Hi, I'm Jo, a mum of five and Professor of Law. Thank-you for visiting my page. Its purpose is to spark a national conversation on the issue of abortion.
In Australia abortion is the leading cause of death, every year killing over 88,000 Australians in-utero. Post-abortion grief has left a huge toll on Australian women, many of whom suffer in silence and do not receive the support they need.
I was not always against abortion. In my early 20s I was prochoice. When I was a Law student at Sydney Uni I believed that abortion was essential to women's equality.
Right now, abortion is legal in every state and territory—and often available right up to birth. But we know the truth: abortion ends a life and leaves lasting scars. We believe Australia deserves better.
